Maria Edgeworth Visitor Centre

The Maria Edgeworth Visitor Centre is a unique visitor experience celebrating the legacy of the pioneering author, educationalist and social commentator Maria Edgeworth.

The Visitor Centre is housed in what is believed to be the oldest national school in Ireland. The Centre houses a large collection of artefacts, books, manuscripts and objects.

Alongside the Museum is the Heritage Trail that takes in the ancestral home and walled garden of the Edgeworth family, St. John’s graveyard where Maria Edgeworth and Isola Wilde are interred.

Visitors can follow in the footsteps of historical figures, Oliver Goldsmith, William Wordsworth and Oscar Wilde and many more.
