A visit to Airfield Estate is something different to everyone: a haven for gardening enthusiasts, animal & food lovers, families and peace-seekers, we go the extra mile to give everyone a great day out. A hidden gem where people go for a breath of fresh air in the heart of Dublin.
The farm at Airfield is a perfect working example of environmentally sustainable agriculture in Ireland. We encourage visitors to explore, experience farm life up close and even get hands-on. We have sheep, pigs, goats and chickens to name a few and our placid Jersey herd are some of the most beautiful animals you’ll ever see. Visitors can enjoy daily activities including watching the Jerseys being milked, to seeing the eggs collected from the coops.
Airfield Gardens are never static and have continued to evolve over the decades. The colour and life you see in our gardens today are the result of the hard work and imagination of Head Gardener Colm O'Driscoll and his team who have put their stamp on the gardens as they continue to evolve. The gardens span six acres and are composed of diverse spaces ranging from an ornamental walled garden, shade gardens and glasshouse spaces, to an extensive organic certified fruit, vegetable and edible flower garden.
A visit to the heritage exhibition in the Overends family home will give insight into the family who left the garden and farm in trust in 1974, and you can even see the Vintage car garage where Letitia Overend’s 1927 Rolls Royce Tourer is housed.
Airfield Estate is not just a beautiful place with a remarkable history, it’s a social and charitable hub, investing in people and initiatives that reach every corner of our community. It really is the gift that keeps on giving.
