Nano Nagle Place

Nano Nagle Place is a great place to start your discovery of Cork City and the beautiful printed materials that come with your ticket help you to discover both our 3.4 acre site and the city of Cork.

In April 2022, Nano Nagle Place received the Council of Europe Museum Prize for 2022.

The self-guided heritage experience engagingly describes life in 18th century Cork before going on to explore the story of how Nano Nagle worked tirelessly to help and educate the poor and disadvantaged of the city. The visitor can then interactively discover how the order she founded, the Presentation Sisters, has traveled across the globe to continue her work.

For younger visitors we have created a special booklet to help them discover the museum, with crayons to take on their visit and bring home.

Our site houses a complex of beautiful 18th-century buildings including the convent that Nano built for the Ursuline Order in 1771. Access to this building is via our guided tour at 15.00. Objects owned and used by Nano, now lovingly conserved, are housed here. In this building, too, is ‘Miss Nagle’s Parlour’, a carefully conserved 18th-century room where Nano spent time with the Ursuline sisters and their boarding students.
