Craggaunowen Castle & Crannóg
Recreating life in Ireland in Bronze Age and Iron Age times, Craggaunowen showcases how our ancestors lived, farmed and fought.
Explore the park’s many homesteads, from the crannog, an artificially constructed island dating back to late bronze age times, to the ringfort, a true reproduction of a farmer’s house, dating from the 4th or 5th century.
Step Back in Time and meet the park’s resident artisans and craftspeople. From the blacksmith crafting tools and weapons, to the Bodger, a skilled green-wood craftsman who once would have travelled between settlements to offer repairs and produce tools for locals to our weavers and spinning who use locally sourced sheep wool on traditional harnesses and spinning wheels to create stunning shawls and blankets.
Say hello to the park’s native Irish animals including Wild Boar, Soay sheep, poultry, goats and donkeys.
