Caherconnell Stone Fort

Caherconnell is a family owned farm on the heart of the Burren on Irelands Wild Atlantic Way. The hospitality business began 3 generations ago with Mary Ann Davoren who began to offer scones and tea to the Ringfort visitors. Hence started the tradition of warm and welcoming hospitality which lasts to this day. Her husband Martin was the farmer at Caherconnell in those days, keeping sheep and cattle as well as some dairy cows. He had a great interest in livestock and as upland farmers we carry on the traditions and skills he shared with his family every day.

The farm was taken over by Martins son, John. An enterprising man John expanded the dairy offering by working with his neighbours at Aillwee to create the renowned Burren Gold cheese – this began the collaborative tradition carried on by the family at Caherconnell today.
