AVEA Member Forum in Strokestown Park House and Famine Museum
Our end-of-summer Forum took place in Co Roscommon at the invitation of the Irish Heritage Trust and the team at Strokestown Park House. We had a series of excellent presentations, with speakers including Fáilte Ireland’s Orla Carroll (who provided a detailed update on projects underway as part of the Just Transition work), Mark Keaveney (Director of Services with Roscommon County Council), and Brian Hanley (Alliance for Insurance Reform.)
General Manager of Strokestown Park House John O’Driscoll gave us a short history of the transformative and sympathetic work that has happened at the House, and later gave a private tour behind the scenes. The team put on a delicious lunch in the courtyard, complete with a food truck, live music, and locally-baked treats. We were lightly blessed with some Roscommon drizzle, but it didn’t spoil the lively chat.
Thank you to all at the IHT for inviting us to visit.
