AVEA welcomes planned reopening of visitor attractions

The Association of Visitor Experiences and Attractions (AVEA) has today (30.03.21) welcomed the Cabinet’s decision to allow outdoor visitor attractions to reopen to the public from April 26th. The Association also welcomes the announcement that the opening of indoor attractions is being considered from 4th May.

Commenting, Deputy Chair of AVEA, Gráinne Kelliher said: “Today’s commitment to re-open outdoor attractions in April is a welcome step which offers a much-needed boost to the public and those working in the industry. And the consideration, subject to public health advice, to reopen indoor attractions in May will provide further opportunities for the general public to reconnect with Ireland’s cultural and heritage experiences. Visitor attractions have proven that they are safe, controlled environments. Our members have made a significant investment to ensure the safety of staff and visitors, including online booking systems, the professional management of people flow, full contact tracing systems and the provision of hand sanitising stations throughout venues. But most of all, our members, some of the country’s most popular experiences and attractions, provide amazing and memorable ‘things to see and do’ for days out and staycations.”
